Patricia Campbell
Traditional Country Dance teacher
Patricia holds a BS in Literature with minors in Psychology, History, and French, and an MS in Special Education, Preschool through 12th Grade. She attends an annual national dance conference, “Pourparler,” for teachers and leaders of school and community dance and music. Patricia also took the Introductory Teacher Training for “Dance for PD” (Parkinson’s) with David Leventhal of the Mark Morris Dance Group and a workshop in “Agile Aging” with Valerie Baadh Garrett.
Prior to her involvement with HVWS, she taught Special Education and supervised group homes for multi-handicapped and autistic teenagers, and then worked in marketing and as a business manager. She joined HVWS as a parent in 1997 after discovering the school through a study group.
She has been a dancer all her life and became a caller more than 30 years ago. Her repertoire of Traditional Country Dancing includes multiple traditional dance styles, including historical dance. She leads workshops and residencies, along with family and community dances and historical Balls. Patricia began her dance involvement at HVWS in 2000 when asked to call dances at a “Harvest Dinner & Dance” for that year’s Third Grade. She teaches dance in the Fall and Spring for Grades 1 through 8, as well as leading the dances for the Halloween Event and the May Fair. Her favorite pastimes are reading, dancing, and traveling. If she hadn’t gotten involved in teaching and leading dances she would have loved to have become a neuroscientist.
