Marlies Simfeld-Redpath was born on the island of Tenerife (close to West Africa) and grew up in Germany. Almost 20 years ago she moved to Connecticut, where she lives with her husband and five children, four of whom have attended HVWS. Prior to training as a Waldorf handwork teacher at the Fibercraft Studio in Spring Valley, NY, Marlies qualified as a pediatric nurse, working with seriously ill children on emergency and intensive care units. She also has a degree in agricultural research (specifically agronomy), which has inspired her interest in plant dyeing. Marlies started teaching first grade handwork at HVWS in 2013, and, in 2020, she took over the role as Handwork Teacher for all grades.

“The true teachers and educators are not those who have learned pedagogy as the science of dealing with children, but those in whom pedagogy has awakened through understanding the human being.”
~ Rudolf Steiner ~
