Briana McCann joined the Early Childhood faculty at the start of the 2021-22 school year as the Assistant Teacher in the Rose class. She first became a part of our school community while exploring a program for the eldest of her three children. Briana was grateful to have discovered Waldorf education before spending a year in Ireland. While there in 2008, she had the opportunity to complete a Foundation Year in Waldorf education. This immersion into anthroposophy, Steiner’s lectures, and the Waldorf curriculum solidified for Briana the approach to education she wanted for her children.

Originally a physical therapist assistant, Briana transitioned to a career in education and completed her BS in anthropology/sociology from Western Connecticut State University in May of 2021. She completed her certificate in Waldorf education through the Master’s program at Antioch University. In addition to her studies, Briana enjoys the artistic activities that are the foundation of Waldorf education.

Briana now serves as the teacher for the Class of 2033 in the Grades, where she continues to bring her passion for Waldorf education to the classroom, inspiring creativity and growth in her students.

“The true teachers and educators are not those who have learned pedagogy as the science of dealing with children, but those in whom pedagogy has awakened through understanding the human being.”
