Isabel discovered Waldorf Education when she was 21 years old, studying Early Childhood Education at a university in Ecuador, and was looking for a more meaningful way to teach children. She traveled to Sao Paulo, Brazil to complete her Waldorf training, then returned to Ecuador where she worked for a year in a Waldorf school, married, and had her first child. Isabel and her family then moved to Miami where she worked for six years in a Waldorf School and had two more children.

Looking for a bigger school for her children, she moved to Connecticut to accept a position teaching at HVWS. She has been working in our Early Childhood program since 2001 as a Nursery Teacher, Parent/Toddler Class Teacher, Handwork Teacher in the Grades, and Early Childhood Mixed-age Kindergarten Teacher. She has served as a Trustee, Chair of Staff Development Committee, Chair of the Early Childhood Program, and a College member. Isabel enjoys arts, crafts, and reading.

“The true teachers and educators are not those who have learned pedagogy as the science of dealing with children, but those in whom pedagogy has awakened through understanding the human being.”
